NEW CUSTOMS AREA CONTROLLER KANO/JIGAWA COMMAND ASSURED STAKEHOLDERS/BUSINESS COMMUNITY FACILITATION OF LEGITIMATE TRADE

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kano/Jigawa Area Command, says it has generated more than N10 billion revenue into the coffers of the federal government which shows the Command activities at the free trade zone has been improved. The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Abubakar Umar, said this at a news conference on Thursday in Kano. Umar said his Command generated N10.1 billion revenue within a short period of time. He said the command will continue to put in place necessary measures to improve on the collection so far with the support from other units of the service such as the CIU, CPU, FOU, Border Drill and Strike Force. "We shall maintain the success through synergy". "We will continue to dialogue, engage and educate the local and community on the security, health and economic implication of smuggling, while discharging our statutory responsibilities of enforcing compliance with the Government fiscal policies". Faruk Udulu lauds Dangote for Establishing Fertilizer Plant and his giant strides in economic development

Alhaji Faruk Abubakar Udulu the Chief Executive Officer of Bentex zuly Nigeria limited commended Aliko Dangote for establishing the $2 billion Dangote Fertilizer plant that has been fully completed and set for commissioning. Faruk Ududu made the statement during a media chat on Friday, on Dangote fertilizer that set to commission soon. He averred that the Fertilizer company was very important to the achievement of the Federal Government’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda, aimed at boosting food security in the country. According to him, Aliko Dangote’s investment in fertilizer production would contribute to improved farm yields and agricultural productivity, which are critical to Nigeria’s long-term food security, while he commended Dangote for his Initiative on Fertilizer aimed at bringing down the cost of fertilisers across the country. The Provost of Federal College of Agriculture Produce Technology Dr. Muhammad Yusha'u Gwaram has outlined some of the blue print of the institution, which is a departure from analog to technology. The Provost disclosed this while reacting to the award of excellence presented to him by Arewa Media Practitioners in his office in Kano on Tuesday. Dr. Yusha'u Gwaram said the college will soon start working on tomatoes processing which will take care of the abundant tomatoes in the area, and also provide job opportunities and income to the college. He said the institution will also provide machine that will process grains harvested in the state and preservations. NYSC DG Urges Appropriate Authorities to Facilitate Passage Of Trust Fund Bill

The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Major General Shu'aibu Ibrahim on Tuesday appealed to the relevant authorities to facilitate the success of the remaining processes on the Bill for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund to bring it to fruition. The Director-General made the plea in Taraba State while addressing Corps Members during the closing ceremony of the 2022 Batch "A" Orientation Course held at the NYSC Orientation Camp Sibre, Ardo Kola LGA of the State. IPC Decries Attacks On Punch Newspapers Journalists; Calls For Immediate Investigations

The International Press Centre (IPC) Lagos-Nigeria has expressed concern over the recent attacks on two Abuja-based journalists of Punch Newspapers; Amarachi Orjiude and Solomon Odeniyi. In a statement signed by the Communications Officer, IPC, Olutoyin Ayoade said reports from the Punch Newspapers specified that Orjiude was picked up by kidnappers in Chika, Lugbe, around noon on Sunday while Odeniyi was robbed around 2 am on Saturday in his Lugbe residence of Abuja. Orjiude who faced death threats from the kidnappers was robbed of her money and phone, likewise, Odeniyi who was cut severally with a machete by the robbers was also robbed of his phones, money, and belongings. IPC Executive Director, Mr. Lanre Arogundade, in a statement, said that the state of insecurity in the country has become extremely worrisome. The Area Controller Kano/Jigawa Command Comptroller M.A Umar who newly assumed the area command office about two weeks ago vows to deal decisively with economic saboteurs (smugglers) whose activities he said is a serious threat to the nation’s security and economy. The Comptroller made the statement while receiving the delegations of Arewa Media Practitioners who paid a courtesy visit to him in other to congratulate him for his newly appointment. The Comptroller stressed that his command will deal with smugglers. "My command under my watch will continue to deal with facilitate trade".
