Investigation conducted by teaming journalists has shown that significant achievements have been achieved in under the present administration of Dr. Aliyu Hamza Balarabe.

A team of journalists concerned with the development of public healthcare, particularly in the North visited the health institution in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state, were they assess the achievements made so far under the able leadership of Dr. Aliyu Balarabe.

The journalists in their survey discovered the performance of medical centre and also their Investigation revealed that FMC Birnin Kebbi are among the best as healthcare providers in Kebbi state and nigeria at large.

















Dr. Aliyu Hamza Balarabe since he assumed duty as the Medical Director and Chief Executive of the Federal Medical Centre Birni Kebbi, on December 27th 2018, the Centre has witnessed monumental and unprecedented development in various areas.

The journalists has rated federal medical centre Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state among the best in nigeria.

Dr. Aliyu reached impressive heights in his career.

He made FMC Birnin Kebbi famous and proud.

This incredible man achieved a lot since his assumption as the Medical Director.
It is however good to point out right here the secret behind the accomplishments.

RECORD OF ACHIEVEMENTS:
The Federal Medical Centre Birni Kebbi, which is a Tertiary Healthcare Facility located in the North West part of Nigeria with a mission to provide effective, efficient and affordable healthcare services to the citizenry in line with the Federal Government’s objectives for the healthcare delivery system.

The Administration came in on the 27th December, 2018 when Dr. Aliyu Hamza Balarabe was appointed as the substantive Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi. 



When he took over the mantle of leadership, his administration met a lot of gaps to be filled in, such as, Infrastructure, Equipments, Training Personnel, and Welfare.

In an attempt to make a change, the Management took on bold steps towards ensuring that the deficits are corrected and the gaps are filled.

With the big challenges and limited resources he was able to make some giant strides in the centre.

In the Process, a lot of equipments have been procured so as to enhance quality healthcare and diagnosis etc.

When the Hon. Minister of State for Health Sen. Adeleke O. Mamora visit federal medical centre Birnin Kebbi in 2021, he commissioned 13 number projects the highest ever commission by the Minister at once.





ABOUT FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE BIRNIN KEBBI


Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kebbi is a tertiary health care institution situated in the capital of Kebbi State, the land of equity. It is a fully functional hospital with over three hundred bed capacity with state of the art medical equipment manned by well trained and highly qualified professionals.  






Historical Background
The Centre is one of the MDAs (parastatal) under the Federal Ministry of Health. It was established under Decree 10 of 1985 i.e. the University Teaching Hospitals (Reconstitution of Boards) Act, Cap 462 on 6th June 2000. The Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kebbi took off on the site of a renovated Rural Health Centre with a seventy-five bed capacity in 2001. The facility had been handed over to the Federal Government by the Kebbi State Government in the year 2000. Since then the Centre has grown over the years to achieve its current over three hundred bed capacity tertiary health care facility amongst other milestones. 









The hospital is located along the Muhammad Iliyasu Bashar, Dukku Barracks road, off the ever busy Birnin Kebbi – Jega road in the heart of the City. In 2019 the hospital recorded an average patient turnover of about one hundred and sixteen thousand, four hundred and ten patients including those from the neighbouring states and Niger republic.
