Kaduna Central 2027: Why the People’s Choice is Already Made

By Victor Mathew Bobai

Politics is about choices, and sometimes, the easiest choice is also the wisest. In Kaduna Central Senatorial District—covering Giwa, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Birnin Gwari, Chikun, and Kajuru—the 2027 race is already tilting towards one man: Comrade Senator Shehu Sani.

Not because he is the loudest, but because history, character, and political reality have all conspired to place him at the centre of this moment. Amidst other aspirants like Mallam Aminu Zaria and Rt. Hon. Yusuf Zailani, the people seem poised to make the simplest political decision in recent memory—returning Shehu Sani as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A Reputation Forged in Struggle
From the days of military rule, when speaking truth to power could mean the end of one’s life, Shehu Sani stood tall. His activism was not born from the comfort of office, but from the trenches of Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle. Kaduna knows this. Giwa’s farmers know this. The artisans of Kaduna North remember. The traders of Kaduna South, the pastoralists of Birnin Gwari, the market women of Chikun, and the hardworking youths of Kajuru have all witnessed a man who has never been afraid to challenge injustice.

Why APC Needs Shehu Sani Now
2027 is not just another election—it’s a defining moment for APC in Kaduna Central. The opposition is regrouping. PDP, ADC  and other parties will throw money, propaganda, and every divisive tactic they can muster. What the APC needs is not just a candidate—it needs a brand strong enough to neutralize all that noise.

Shehu Sani is that brand.

In Giwa, his grassroots appeal cuts across partisan lines; he is seen as a man who fights for farmers’ rights.
In Kaduna North, his voice has been loud in calling for infrastructure and youth empowerment.
In Kaduna South, his defence of religious tolerance has given him support across faith lines.
In Igabi and Birnin Gwari, his consistency in calling for better security earns him respect in communities that live daily under threat.
In Chikun and Kajuru, his humanitarian interventions have been felt in rural and urban settlements alike.
The Unbeatable Political Math
Political strategy is about numbers and loyalty. With Shehu Sani:

The APC secures crossover votes from people who ordinarily wouldn’t vote APC.
His existing national profile strengthens Kaduna’s voice in Abuja.
His history of philanthropy and human rights advocacy means he campaigns with trust already built in.
Mallam Aminu Zaria is intelligent. Rt. Hon. Yusuf Zailani is a grassroots mobilizer But Kaduna Central knows that in 2027, sentiment will play a bigger role than political CVs—and the sentiment is overwhelmingly in Shehu Sani’s favour.

The Mood in the Streets
Talk to the tea vendors in Tudun Wada, the mechanics in Kakuri, the okada riders in Sabon Tasha, the farmers in Giwa, and the women traders in Maraban Rido  market—there’s a common refrain: “We know who can speak for us in Abuja without forgetting us here.”

That kind of organic support cannot be manufactured. It’s not the product of billboard campaigns or media blitzes; it’s the harvest of decades of standing with the people when it was neither profitable nor popular.

A Consensus Waiting to be Declared
APC leaders in Kaduna Central have a rare opportunity. Instead of a bruising internal primary that fractures the party and gives the opposition an opening, they can rally around a candidate whose candidacy is already a unifying factor.

The signs are clear. The murmurs are growing. The political ground is shifting. In the hearts of many, the decision is already made: Comrade Senator Shehu Sani will be the APC’s consensus candidate for Kaduna Central in 2027.

Final thoughts
The easiest political decision is not always the safest—but in 2027, it happens to be both. Returning Shehu Sani to the Senate is not just about rewarding past service—it’s about securing the future of Kaduna Central within the APC family.

And as someone who has watched our politics closely, I can say without fear of contradiction: the tide is moving, and it’s moving in one direction.
