INTIMIDATION, VICTIMIZATION, ABD SUPPRESSION OF WORKERS RIGHTS ROCK NBAIS
The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) staff are speaking out against alleged systematic intimidation, victimization, and suppression of workers' rights under Prof. Yahuza Sulaiman Imam's leadership. They claim the management is running a "silent regime of fear" to prevent unionization, violating Nigeria's constitution and labor laws.
Allegations Against Management:
Intimidation and Victimization: Staff are punished for joining unions, with threats, punitive transfers, and denied promotions.
- _Disregard for IAP Ruling_: Management allegedly ignored an Industrial Arbitration Panel directive to stop interfering in union activities.
Low Morale: Staff feel silenced, insecure, and unprotected, with many unhappy about the management ¹.
Management's Response:
NBAIS management, when contacted claims the allegations are old and were previously addressed. They've appealed the IAP ruling and are awaiting a National Industrial Court hearing in January 2026.
Call for Action:
Staff are seeking presidential intervention, citing a cycle of victimization and administrative impunity. They hope for fairness, justice, and dignity .
