Why We Are Standing Firm For Tinubu In 2027 – Kaduna Commissioner, Sadiq Mamman Lagos

Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has explained why he and his political camp remain resolute in their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's second term bid in 2027.

Speaking in a video interview shared by Mijinyawa TV, the veteran politician said their decision is anchored on party loyalty, continuity of governance and the alignment between the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani and the Federal Government.

Mamman Lagos, a legendary Kaduna politician, insisted that their support for Tinubu in 2027 is total and non-negotiable.

He recalled the political history that brought former President Muhammadu Buhari to power, noting that Buhari contested for the presidency four times without success until Tinubu and his South-West political allies came to his aid.

According to him, he alongside Nasir El-Rufai, Shehu ABG, Haruna Sa'id and the late General Ahmed, owner of Pyramid Hotel, waited for over four hours at Kaduna Airport to receive Tinubu and his team, which included all South-West governors at the time and Lai Mohammed.

"They all converged at the late Muhammadu Buhari's house and reached a gentleman's agreement that the Yoruba people from the South-West would support Buhari to become President," he said.

Lagos added that Tinubu later took Buhari to Lagos, where he stayed for three months for rebranding and was given a private jet for his presidential campaign.

He argued that despite Buhari's eight years in office where key appointments – including Minister of Justice, Defence Minister, Inspector General of Police, Comptroller-General of Customs, Immigration, Prisons Service, DSS, NIA, Civil Defence, Chief of Army Staff, Senate President, NNPC and heads of major MDAs and parastatals – were dominated by northerners, the North did not witness commensurate development.

On the current opposition, Mamman Lagos said those parading themselves as opposition are not genuine opposition figures.

"The real and original opposition were the late Malam Aminu Kano, the late Balarabe Musa and others who formed a party to challenge the ruling party and correct its mistakes, not the way the present opposition is doing," he stated.

He described them as aggrieved runaway party members – former governors, former ministers and former legislators who lost popularity, lost elections or failed to secure appointments.

"We didn't see them as opposition. They are all hypocrites. They are not happy with the development and achievements made so far under the APC-led administration," he said.

Citing infrastructural projects, the Commissioner pointed to the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway which, he said, was not completed during Buhari's eight years but is now receiving serious attention under Tinubu, with 70-80 percent completion already achieved.

"So we should please allow Tinubu to finish the agreement, which is eight years. What remains is four years now and that is the best solution. 

We have all the reasons to support Tinubu's second term bid. We will continue to support APC and Tinubu to succeed in 2027 by the grace of Almighty Allah," he concluded.
